✤MURO Mellow - A VRChat Christmas✤

 Hi everyone! I'm making an additional, less-structured segment called Muro Mellow! These will be slightly less technical and informative, more focused on the social and creative aspects of virtual spaces. Basically, I'll be blogging about fun things I do! I love talking shop, but I feel there's more to the communities I participate in than just technical work. Just yesterday, I went to a Christmas party in VRChat with my friends!

I also learned about a new feature that I didn't have access to - VRChat Prints! Prints allow you to 'print out' any pictures you take in-game, making it so you can carry them, throw them around, and share them with friends, and each photo has options on the back for easy downloading and sharing with everyone in the room. This tree is made up of Prints! And Prints include the World and the person who took the photo, in a cute  Polaroid-reminiscent style. It's a quick and easy way to credit both the World creator and the photographer.

The World featured is Snowed Out by Lucifer MStar, a lovely holiday scene of a snowy street with a functioning ice skating rink. There are RC toy cars to race around, a pool table in an open garage, and multiple hangout areas - a snow fort, the garage, the ice rink, or just on the sidewalk or the street! There's no traffic in virtual reality, thankfully. While it's easy to run out of things to do during a long hangout, I  think it's still an entertaining and festive world, and I love spending time with everyone.

It's almost traditional to make a festive version of your avatar for the holidays, so I'm wearing ROSI atelier's 【7アバター対応】 ⛄SALE⛄ Winter cozy knit. It's adorable! I was torn, but I ultimately chose the green holiday variant of the sweater. Green is my favorite color, so I'm biased.

For people who aren't able to see their friends in person, VRChat is a great way to get a feeling of in-person socialization, to feel a connection even if you can't go and meet them.  When we gather for pictures, we get called over and corralled just like we would in real life. We have to lean into each other to fit in the frame and we fuss over how we look. To me, these little experiences are just as real as they would be in real life. The people are real, the emotions are real, and the memories are real. It can be a bit of a disconnect for someone who doesn't socialize online, and I am fully prepared to face the 'terminally online' allegations, but I adore my friends.
