✤MURO Marching: ORGANISM✤

09/05/25

Hi again everyone, it's another MURO Marching, this time about the World ORGANISM (v1.5) by DrMorro!

What is ORGANISM?

ORGANISM is a World I recommend to every single person who plays VRChat. It's a story, it's a massive virtual world to explore and hang out in with friends, it's an amazingly detailed set for taking photos, it fills a lot of my criteria. ORGANISM, to me, is an example of everything I love about community-driven creation hubs like VRChat. It also won Raindance Immersive's (Raindance is the UK equivalent of the Sundance film festival) Best Immersive World Award 2022. DrMorro has also released two sequels to ORGANISM, Epilogue․ Chapter 1․ (v 1․2)and Epilogue. Chapter 2. (v.1.1.), rounding the story out to a trilogy.

We start in the phone booth with a beeping that sounds like something between a dial tone and a heart monitor. Exploring this hub area, we find one door in each cardinal direction, with only door number one open. A noticeboard helpfully informs us of several things - that we can discover and unlock codes that give us access to the other doors, this world is intended for players 16 years or older, and a warning about 'administration' not being responsible for panic attacks, mood swings, bouts of poor health, or depression, and to be careful and take care of your health. Ominous!

Through the first door (the only door we can enter right now), we end up in what vaguely looks like a hospital. Right behind us, we hear the phone ring one last time before it gets cut off by a door slamming and what sounds like a lock clicking into place. A lit-up sign lets us know this is area number one. We didn't need a code for the first door, so the four boxes beneath are lit instead of displaying numbers. For this review, I'll only be showing photos of Area One and Area Two because exploration and discovery are part of the charm of this map. Remember, this is a huge World! What appears in this blog post isn't even half of the map.

"Attention visitorsǃ there is no puzzles‚ and no definitive answer․ You decide what an "Organism" is․" - In-game Description.

There are recurring motifs. Windows and doors that lead to static, empty office desks, a hung trench coat and hat double your size, desolate and warped brutalist architecture, emergency escape signs that guide your journey, and more to help you piece together the story. Exploration is a huge part of this World. Each area has tons of splits that converge, hidden paths that lead to cool places to hang out, or trails that loop back around to other parts of the World.

If you visit, let me know what you make of the story in the comments! I'd love to hear your theories. Thank you for reading!
